AI meal plan assistant

Meet Chef Sage. Your in-house meal-prep guide.

Free help picking bowls, macros, and a weekly plan — then it lands in your cart.

What Chef Sage does

Every answer is grounded in our live menu, pricing engine, and delivery rules — not generic food advice.

  • Builds your weekly plan in chat

Drafts a full week of named bowls with macros and price for Starter (8), Family (12), or Performance (16).

  • Adds it to your cart with one tap

When you approve the plan card, your bowls drop into your cart at the exact tier price.

  • Knows your delivery zone

Share any 5-digit ZIP. Chef confirms county and delivery windows, or hands you to the waitlist if we do not ship there yet.

  • Hard-filters allergies and dislikes

Tell Chef once. Allergens, intolerances, and foods you avoid stay locked in for every recommendation.

  • Recommends down honestly

If you only need 8 bowls, Chef says so — trust over upsell.

  • Remembers you between visits

Signed in? Chef remembers goal, taste, ZIP, plan size, and optional medical context. Guests are session-only.

Sample conversations

Three short patterns Chef Sage handles every day. Real flow — drafted bowls, ZIP checks, hard filters.

  • Goal-first lifter

Calorie target, hard filter, and a tier — handled in two turns.

High protein, around 2,400 cal, Family plan. No pork.
Got it. What's your delivery ZIP so I can verify before drafting?
    92805.
Anaheim, OC zone — confirmed. Drafting 12 bowls leaning chicken, salmon, steak. Mediterranean, BBQ, and California Fresh lanes for variety.
  • ZIP first, plan second

Honest service-area check before any plan work.

    Do you deliver to 92101?
Yes — 92101 is in our San Diego County zone, Sunday delivery. What's your goal this week?
Just want healthy lunches for the week, 8 bowls.
Starter (8) is the right fit. I'll draft 8 lighter bowls and you can approve in one tap.
  • Allergy override

Allergens are hard filters, not suggestions.

Tree nut and shellfish allergies. Pescatarian otherwise.
Locked: no shellfish, no tree-nut sauces, no shrimp. Wild salmon and plant proteins are fair game. Goal and ZIP?
Maintenance, 2,000 cal, Family plan. ZIP 90814.
Long Beach, LA County — confirmed. Drafting 12 bowls, salmon-forward, no pesto (pine nuts).

Try saying…

Copy any line into the chat. Chef Sage reads your whole message and responds with a real plan grounded in our catalog.

  • Build me a 12-bowl high-protein week under 2,200 cal. No nuts.
  • I'm vegetarian and lift four days a week — what would you put in my plan?
  • Do you deliver to 92805? If yes, recommend a Starter plan I can approve right now.
  • I have IBS and prediabetes. Build me a low-FODMAP, low-glycemic 8-bowl week.
  • I'm picky and tired of chicken. Two Mediterranean and two BBQ bowls — what do you put in them?
  • Compare Starter (8) vs Family (12) for one person eating one bowl a day.

Chef Sage or the bowl builder?

Two ways into the same plan. Pick whichever feels easier today.

Chef Sage (chat)

Best when you want someone to do the pairing, portion math, and tier choice for you. Three quick answers and Chef hands you a full week.

Bowl builder (clicks)

Best when you already know what you want — pick proteins, bases, sauces, see live macros. Same engine Chef Sage uses behind the scenes.

What Chef Sage will not do

  • Never uses urgency tricks like "limited time", "act now", or "exclusive offer".
  • Never invents prices, ingredients, or plan tiers — every quote comes from the live catalog and pricing engine.
  • Never pushes a bigger plan when a smaller one fits. Recommends down when honest.
  • Never claims a cart action succeeded if it didn't — Chef stops and fixes it with you.

Privacy & memory

  • Guests: chat lives in the current session only; nothing personal persists after you leave.
  • Signed-in customers: durable facts (goal, allergies, plan size, ZIP, taste preferences, optional medical context) are stored on your account so Chef remembers next visit.
  • Cart access: only your own server cart — read, remove, or reduce quantity when you ask.

Chef Sage FAQ

What is Chef Sage?

Chef Sage is the in-house AI meal-plan guide for The Meal Preps. Chef talks to you in chat, asks a few quick questions about your goal, taste, and ZIP, then drafts a full week of chef-prepped bowls you can drop into your cart with one tap.

Is Chef Sage free?

Yes. There's no extra cost and no signup required to chat. You only pay if and when you approve a plan and the bowls land in your cart at the regular per-bowl price for your tier.

Where do I find Chef Sage?

Use the green chat bubble in the bottom-right corner of any page on themealpreps.com, or tap "Talk to Chef Sage" / "Ask Chef Sage" in the navbar and footer when chat is enabled.

What can I ask Chef Sage?

Anything about building a plan, picking a tier, swapping ingredients, hitting a calorie or protein target, delivery ZIPs, freshness, ingredients, or skipping a week. Examples: "Build me 12 high-protein bowls under 2,200 cal" or "Do you deliver to 92805?"

Does Chef Sage remember me?

If you're signed in, yes — Chef remembers your goal, allergies, plan size, ZIP, taste preferences, and optional medical context across sessions. Guests are session-only and nothing personal persists after you leave.

Will Chef Sage pressure me into a bigger plan?

No. Chef is built to recommend down when a smaller plan fits, and never uses fake urgency. If 8 bowls a week is right for you, that is what Chef recommends — even though 12 or 16 would be a bigger order.

Can Chef Sage change items in my cart?

If you're signed in, yes — Chef can read what's in your cart and remove items or reduce quantities at your request. For guests, Chef hands off a link to sign in or open /cart to edit manually.

What will Chef Sage not do?

Chef won't invent prices, plans, or ingredients we don't carry; won't claim a cart action succeeded if it didn't; and isn't a doctor — for medical conditions, Chef helps with food choices but always points you to a clinician for the medical side.

Does Chef Sage support vegan, keto, or family plans?

Yes. Tell Chef your diet — vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, keto, low-carb, low-FODMAP, gluten-free — and only matching catalog items will appear in your plan. For two people or a family, Chef can scale a single weekly plan that works for both diets without separate orders.

Can I edit the plan after Chef Sage builds it?

Yes. The plan card is a starting point — you can swap proteins, change portion sizes, add or remove bowls, and update macros directly in the bowl builder afterward. Chef can also rebuild from scratch if you want a new direction.

Three quick questions and you're done for the week.

Chef Sage drafts real bowls with live macros — then you approve once.

Or build manually in the bowl builder.
