Behind the Scenes: How We Source Our Ingredients
Take a peek into our kitchen and learn about our commitment to fresh, quality ingredients.
At The Meal Preps, we believe that healthy meal prep starts with ingredients you can trust. Here’s how we source our proteins, bases, and vegetables—and why we say no to preservatives and seed oils so you get clean, fresh food delivered every week.
Our Sourcing Philosophy
We prioritize quality and transparency. That means working with suppliers who share our standards for freshness, animal welfare where applicable, and clear supply chains. We’d rather pay a bit more for better ingredients than cut corners.
Proteins: Quality and Portion Control
Our proteins are chosen for taste, nutrition, and consistency. We offer grass-fed steak, wild-caught salmon, and a range of poultry and plant-based options. Every protein is portioned to the ounce (cooked weight) so you know exactly what you’re getting. No fillers or mystery meats—just real food, clearly labeled.
Bases and Vegetables
Bases like jasmine rice, brown rice, quinoa, and cauliflower rice are sourced for quality and cooked to order. Vegetables are fresh and prepped in-house so they hold up in the fridge and reheat well. We add new options regularly based on season and customer feedback.
No Preservatives, No Seed Oils
We don’t use preservatives or seed oils in our cooking. Meals are prepared fresh weekly and delivered chilled, so they’re meant to be eaten within a few days. That’s how we keep ingredients clean and avoid the additives that many packaged “healthy” meals rely on.
From Our Kitchen to Your Door
Once ingredients are prepped and bowls are built to your order, we pack everything in insulated packaging with ice packs. That keeps your meal prep safe and fresh from our kitchen to your fridge—whether you’re in Orange County, LA, Riverside, or San Diego.
